Monika
Integrative Psychotherapist
Hello, I’m Monika, accredited integrative child and adolescent psychotherapist.
I currently work in private practice with individual children, young people, parents and adults.
Alongside my private practice I am an independent psychotherapist in a secondary school in North-East London providing assessments and one to one therapy to young people, as well as consultancy for teachers and parents.
I am also a member of the core teaching staff at the Terapia Centre in Finchley, London.
Prior to working privately, I worked as a therapist and managed a Whole School Approach Therapeutic service in a primary school as a part of tier 2 Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in North London.
Psychotherapy with Adults
Psychotherapy is a healing process that happens in a relationship between the client and the therapist in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space; where clients are encouraged to explore their feelings, thoughts and behaviours and, with the therapist’s guidance, gain a better understanding of themselves. This, with time, leads to positive shifts in their lives.
People seek therapy for many reasons. These might be managing mental health concerns like anxiety and depression, navigating relationship difficulties, processing grief and loss, and addressing life transitions or chronic health conditions.
It might be that you are experiencing problems at work, home or generally in life and you find it hard to understand the reasons behind your challenges.
Maybe you experienced childhood trauma and would like to make sense of what happened and how it impacted your SELF.
"You're braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think." - A.A. Milne

"Therapy is a gift. It is a chance to finally be heard, understood and supported." - Bessel van der Kolk
How I work
I am an integrative psychotherapist which means that I tailor my approach to individual clients’ needs, according to their unique life experiences and preferences, to help them develop a greater sense of self-awareness, self-compassion, and resilience. I accept everyone for who they are and am a strong believer that while hurtful experiences within relationships can cause pain and damage, the very nature of human connection provides the potential for healing and growth. This healing happens in a therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client by processing past hurts, and rebuilding trust.
I am trained to work with a broad range of tools including talking and play/arts therapy. I incorporate into my work the principles of psychodynamic psychotherapy, play therapy, sand play therapy, Gestalt, CBT techniques and mindfulness-based therapy. I also offer EMDR therapy which can help with a range of issues, especially in processing past traumas. My work is informed by the recent research in neuroscience and attachment theory.
My goal is to create a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space where clients can delve into their emotions, thoughts, and experiences on an emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and physical level.
I see all my psychotherapy clients in person.
